Azie Faison Jr. may be the only New Yorker who doesn’t want his life glamorized on the big screen.
The legendary Harlem drug dealer – who got out of the business (barely) alive after a 1987 shooting that made front-page news – is unhappy with the Miramax biopic Paid in Full. He wanted the movie to be a cautionary tale about the perils of drug-dealing, not one that celebrates that lifestyle.

“After I was shot, the doctor said, ‘This man’s dead,’ ” says Faison, “but God saved me. He said, ‘Bring the drug game to an end.’ “

A cautionary tale about the life of former kingpin Azie Faison, who has become the fabric of street legend Faison was a ninth grade dropout who earned more than $100.
Faison (nicknamed AZ) had hoped Paid in Full would help accomplish that goal. “I gave this man a powerful screenplay,” he says of producer Damon Dash, “but now it seems more like a marketing plan to promote his rappers. Plus Cam’ron” – a rapper who’s in the film – “is too rah-rah about the drug game.”
Dash admits that “Cam’ron never experienced the dealer’s life” but dismisses Faison’s criticism: “If you want to call it a marketing tool, fine.”
Faison concedes that the film’s grim, violent ending might still be an effective anti-drug PSA. “It’s a good movie, don’t get me wrong. But this” – he holds up his original script, called Trapped – “is a masterpiece. This is the black Titanic.”

Six people were shot in the head early yesterday in a South Bronx apartment during a drug-related robbery, the police said. Three died immediately, but three others, including a 13-year-old girl, were found alive.
The police said they responded shortly after 2:30 A.M. to a telephone call reporting the sound of gunshots from a third-floor apartment at 1295 Grand Concourse, near East 169th Street in the Morrisania section.
When the police arrived, they discovered six people, all of whom had been shot in the head and body at close range. Inspector Daniel F. McMahon, executive officer of the Bronx detectives unit, said, 'Three of them had been handcuffed behind the back and were already dead.'
The dead were identified as Myra Enoch, 50, and Joane Blue, 44, who both lived in the apartment where the shootings occurred, and Charles Parker, 23, of 454 West 162d Street in Manhattan. Girl Stabbed in Stomach
The police said two of the other victims, Lynette Bell, 13, whose address was not known, and Michael Lamar, 34, of 1700 Grand Concourse, were taken to Bronx Municipal Hospital Center. Another victim, Azie Faison, 23, whose address was not immediately known, was taken to Lincoln Hospital.
Yesterday evening, Inspector McMahon said the three survivors had all been shot 'repeatedly in both the head and body.'
The police said that the girl had apparently been stabbed in the stomach before being shot.
'They are all under 24-hour armed guard,' Inspector McMahon said. 'As soon as they are able to talk, and if they are able to talk, we want to know what they can tell us.'
A spokeswoman at Bronx Municipal Hospital, Dorothy Kaalund, said Mr. Lamar was in critical but stable condition after surgery and was out of intensive care. The girl, however, remained in 'very critical condition,' she said.
Mr. Faison was listed in critical condition at Lincoln Hospital. Last night, he was recovering after surgery, a spokesman said.
The police said they believe there were three assailants, who used a 9-millimeter handgun, a .38-caliber handgun and a .380-caliber automatic pistol.
Inspector McMahon said that the police had found the apartment 'completely ransacked' and that the place may have been used to package crack, the powerful cocaine derivative.

A police spokesman, Sgt. John Clifford, said the gunmen 'were searching for something.'
Sergeant Clifford said a 'bloody knife, spent shells, empty crack vials and other drug paraphernalia' had been found in the apartment.
